The Anglican Diocese of the Living Word gives thanks to Almighty God for the life and ministry of Brookes Freegard, who entered the nearer presence of God on Saturday November 26, 2022. Together with his wife Judy and other faithful lay leaders, Brookes led the planting of the Anglican Mission in South Maryland in the early days of the Convocation of Anglicans in North America. Latterly, Brookes served as Senior Warden at the Anglican Church of the Hill County (St. Michael’s and All Angels) in Kerrville, Texas and facilitated the congregation's reception into the diocese.
Bishop Julian Dobbs commented, “I give thanks to God for this faithful Christian brother. A true servant of Christ who stood fast in the faith. Brenda and I considered Brookes a personal friend, having known both he and Judy from our earliest years in the United States. Brookes will be greatly missed among us. The Lord has called home his faithful servant, now at rest in the presence of His Lord.”
MOST merciful Father, who hast been pleased to take unto thyself the soul of this thy servant. Grant to us who are still in our pilgrimage, and who walk as yet by faith, that having served thee with constancy on earth, we may be joined hereafter with thy blessed saints in glory everlasting; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
